HP packs performance, security into upcoming Elite t660 Thin Client

At a time when more IT teams are turning to thin clients to help lock down digital access, HP is bringing to market the latest thin-client technology protected by its own industry-leading security suite, HP Wolf Security. The Elite t660 is scheduled to come available in March.
Indeed, thin clients are enjoying a bit of a resurgence this year — the second such boost since the start of the decade. The first injection of growth came during the pandemic, when a sudden explosion of remote work translated into additional demand. And now, IT is once again looking to thin clients as it desperately searches for ways to boost security.
It’s no wonder IT decisionmakers are concerned. The growth in attacks in 2024 was dizzying, particularly against critical US infrastructure. The number of cyberattacks on US utilities, for example, mushroomed 70 percent last year over the same period in 2023.
And breaches are not only happening more frequently. They’re also far more expensive to clean up, and impact far more people than before.
Last year, the number of breaches jumped 14 percent to 1,571. And the average cost per breach climbed 10 percent, to nearly $4.9 million.
But that growth is dwarfed by the explosion in the number of people impacted by breaches in 2024. In just the first half of the year, nearly 1.1 billion people were impacted by breaches, more than 2.5 times the 418 million people impacted for all of 2023.
Enter the t660
With the Elite t660, HP is packing performance — five-core, 13th-generation Intel processor paired with a dual-channel SODIMM with up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR5, the latest generation of high-performance, efficient memory and up to 512GB SSD storage into a 200mm x 200mm x 35mm enclosure. That’s shorter than the short side of a piece of paper and just half as wide as a single light switch plate.
And as compact as the Elite t660 is, it can support up to a combination of one 5K display and three 4K displays.
Fleet managers can deploy, update and manage Elite t660s and other HP Thin Clients with HP Wolf Cloud Endpoint Manager. And they can keep their HP Thin Clients locjed down with the HP Wolf Security suite, including:
· BIOS protections with Sure Start,
· Next-level, password-free access with HP Sure Admin, and
· HP Secure Erase to remove data from compromised storage.
The HP Elite t660 is also manufactured with sustainability in mind. The thin clients are all built with at least 50 percent post-consumer recycled plastics as well as 100 percent recycled or sustainably-sourced packaging.
Pricing is expected to be released closer to availability in March. Check HP Thin Clients product page for the latest.
